Solar panel frame

I finally got around to building a frame for my solar panel. I did some checking of the roof pitch and the angle is 22 degrees, I need it sitting at 45 degrees. This will get the best sun in the winter and summer. The best angle for my area is 30 deg in the summer and 60 deg in the winter. Once I get an adjustable frame I will be able to move the panels to the proper angle during each season.

Check out the video to get more insite into my frame.

First snow storm in Halifax

It is always quite amazing how many people in this city are not ready for snow in November. I was able to get video of  a snow plow getting stuck ad well as one of the big Metro transit ‘bendy buses’ also got stuck.

One of these days people may realize they live in Canada and we do get snow! So people get your snow tires on before it starts snowing and you will not get stuck in the middle of the road.

5th Ave and Rockefeller Plaza New York

I was down to New York City on a work trip and was able to wander down 5th Ave. The Christmas tree was up in Rockefeller Center and people were out skating. The Rockefeller tower was amazingly tall I have some video looking up at it with the Christmas tree in the foreground. I am always amazed with the number of people in this city, everywhere you go there are masses of people.

Solar Cells

I ordered some solar cells a little while back and they arrived today!

I am looking forward to building out two solar panels with 36 cells in each. This should give me 18vdc and 2.5A to 3.5A per panel.

They wil be used to help charge the battery bank in the new trailer we bought this summer.

Keep an eye out for some videos on my building progress.

Occupy Nova Scotia

I went out with some co workers for lunch and we took a stroll by the Grand Parade in downtown Halifax.

The occupy Nova Scotia protesters had their tents all setup and I was able to get some video of it

New Trailer at Graves Island

We have been looking at trailers for quite a while and finally decided to buy one. Our new trailer is a 2008 Palomino real lite with a furnace, fridge, and electric water pump in it.

CRC RV had a bunch of trailers setup at Mic Mac Mall one weekend so we decided to take a look. This is where we wandered through many different trailers to see what we wanted in one. This particular popup caught our eye because of the shape it was in and the price!

The guys at CRC in Truro were great with the after sales support. I arrived in Truro to pick up the trailer and they went through a complete training session on how to setup and use everything.

Thanksgiving weekend was our first trip out with the trailer at Graves Island Provincial Park.

The video shows how quick it was to set up of the trailer once we arrived on site.

Las Vegas

In August I took a trip to Las Vegas to attend vmworld. With the Hoover Dam so close I thought it was time to take another trip to see it and the new bridge. The video above has shots from the bridge and the dam itself.
